The proper function of a fireplace relates to its construction, one whichs hould be well-designed so that there are no problems (temperature loss, smoke etc.). During the first couple of times when we use the fireplace, it would be useful to check how much extensive fire it can satisfy without it smoking.
An important role plays also the door selection for the fireplace. There are three main reasons why doors are necessary:
1. Efficiency
2. Economy
The glass used is refractory 950ο C hence temperature is transmitted through radiation to our space. The glass (the door) prevents the potential flying embers which can penetrate to our space thus eschewing the risk of fire. Additionally, it keeps the temperature within the house and does not allow its escape from the chimney to the atmosphere (like it occurs in open fireplaces).
The temperature provided by the fireplace depends of cource from the way the firewoods have been situated. They should not be cornered in order for the air to circulate among them supplying them with oxygen.
Following these important details we will be able to combine:
- Fire savor
- Safety
- Maximum thermal efficiency
